Geomorphic setting Lagoon
Site Type
  • Engine core
Site description The lagoon is separated from the open sea by a low shingle barrier, through which there is no natural connection. It has fluctuating water salinities. During the rainy season the lagoon is brackish, whereas in dry season it nearly dries up and become hypersaline. Five different facies have been used to describe the lithologies encountered in three different cores. The core B located on the southeastern landward side of the lagoon, is used as the most representative of the entire recovered sequence.
